Dear Community, near and far,
You may be aware that I have a van, called Connie. She was named Connie, suggested by a group of Earpers, who presented a great pitch: Concordia, which in Latin means harmony and peace. (see picture below ) So, she soon became Connie, for short.
Connie has been my companion, my home, my heart and my healing. Outside of Quebec, she has accompanied me across Turtle Island from Montreal (Tiohtià:ke) to Calgary (Moh’kinstsis). Arriving for the second half of Wynonna Earp – Season 4 (which due to Covid ended up being filmed in Summer!) Then across to the West Coast, over to multiple islands off of Vancouver (K’emk’emeláy̓/Lhq’á:lets/xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), where I dedicated many months to healing, and then back home to Montreal (Tiohtià:ke), hitting the first snow storm of the year in Alberta… but that’s another story.
We’ve seen some things, me and my golden girl! We had some unforgettable adventures, changing me in foundational ways, but the time has come for her to find a new home. A new community to love and care for her, like I have.
I have decided to auction Connie in a fundraiser to raise money for Start the Wave, with all proceeds donated and redistributed to projects creating change. The thought of saying goodbye to Connie is quite something to be honest, but when I had the download that I could auction her off and at the same time plant seeds of change, it made it easier somehow. This is what she would want.
A couple of years ago, I paused from my more nomadic life and bought a house, where she sat at the bottom of the garden. She has made a FANTASTIC extra space for sleep over adventures and a creative project bubble! When I was away in England filming MAGIC, she did face a mini flood in the garden and got a bit wet, so I recently took her to the garage, did all the necessary work to get her up to scratch, leaving her in “perfect condition” and ready for her next adventure. There is a little mold on the canvas roof, that I didn’t have time to treat, but I am told there are ways, and also an option to replace if desired. Now, she’s an 80s babe, 1986 to be exact, so she’s a little stiff around the edges and requires love and care. But who doesn’t, right? For someone that wouldn’t mind eventually using her as a secondary space, or has the income to continue keeping her in shape, I feel confident she will show up in all of her beauty.
Connie has this unbelievably healing quality that embraces you in a safe hug. Volkswagen’s are a special experience, something that I had always dreamt of living, and if you are the same, she could be yours. Wherever she lands, or wherever she travels, I trust that she will find her way.
I will of course provide you with all of the paperwork and detailed information of past work that has been done. You will see she is undeniably sexy, with solar panels on her roof which powers the fridge and the plug sockets. I am also attaching some photos/videos of her here, with all her perfect imperfections.
I hope that she finds her special someone, couple, or group of people that chip in together to raise money for change. I pray that she continues to be treated as a sacred space, to heal, grow and to create change, as she will through this auction.
Thank you so much for reading my love letter to this chapter of my life and to the diva that made it possible. Connie, you gorgeous thing, I hope you find your next adventure.
If you think it could be you, consider placing a bid and you’ll find out when the auction closes on 18th August at 11pm UK/6pm EST.
Good luck and here’s to change!
Love Dom x
